Palo Alto Networks Buys Console to Add AI Agents to Cortex
Palo Alto Networks acquired Console, an AI-native platform using natural language agents to automate security operations, and will fold it into its Cortex platform.
Palo Alto Networks on Tuesday announced the acquisition of Console, an AI-native platform that helps organizations build agentic workflows and automate operational security tasks using natural language. Financial terms were not disclosed. The technology will be integrated into the company’s Cortex security platform.
Console’s tools let users describe an operational objective in plain language. AI agents then perform the analysis and take the actions needed to meet that objective, including investigating signals, prioritizing work and applying remediation steps across enterprise environments. Palo Alto Networks said the platform can help resolve alerts, issues and requests at machine speed.
The acquisition was announced with Palo Alto Networks’ fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 results. For the quarter ended July 31, revenue rose 34% year over year to $3.41 billion and remaining performance obligations increased 34% to $21.2 billion. The company reported a GAAP net loss of $282 million, or $0.35 per diluted share, compared with net income of $254 million in the year-ago quarter. Palo Alto Networks added nearly $1 billion in net new next-generation security annual recurring revenue during the quarter and projected fiscal 2027 revenue of $14.1 billion to $14.2 billion, an increase of 23% to 24%.
“By bringing Console into Palo Alto Networks, our customers can have a direct conversation with data and build agentic workflows in natural language that helps alert and remediate issues automatically,” CEO Nikesh Arora stated.
Palo Alto Networks described Console as a platform for building agentic workflows and automating both the investigation and action phases of operational tasks. The company said Console’s agents will allow security teams to move from signal detection to remediation with less manual intervention and will be used to extend Cortex’s automation capabilities.
