Abstract raises $25M to expand streaming security ops

Abstract Security raised $25 million in a round co-led by Cheyenne Ventures and AVP to grow its streaming-first composable security operations platform.

Abstract Security announced on Thursday it raised $25 million in a funding round co-led by Cheyenne Ventures and AVP. Additional investors included Olive Hill Ventures, Crosslink Capital and Rally Ventures. The financing brings the company’s total capital to nearly $50 million, and the company reported its valuation has tripled since its prior round without disclosing the new figure.

The company intends to use the funds to widen in-stream detection coverage, extend capabilities across the security operations workflow and grow its go-to-market team.

Abstract’s platform is built around what the company calls composable security operations, an architecture that separates sources of security data from destinations. The design allows organizations to combine different collection, detection, retention and AI-enabled tools instead of relying on a single monolithic SIEM.

A technical focus for the platform is analyzing telemetry while it is still in motion, rather than waiting for data to be indexed and stored. As records exit the processing pipeline, Abstract routes and tiers them to different storage destinations and converts them into schemas such as OCSF, ECS and CIM for downstream tools.

Abstract reported that routing and conversion aim to lower long-term storage costs and improve interoperability with other security tools.

Colby DeRodeff, Abstract’s CEO and co-founder, described the company’s strategy as ‘AI-Gen Security Operations’ and said the approach embeds AI into detection, triage, investigation and response while keeping control of data.

Abstract was founded in 2023 by a team with backgrounds at ArcSight, Bank of America, Palo Alto Networks and Mandiant.
