Okta to acquire Permiso to expand identity threat detection

On Thursday, Okta signed a definitive agreement to acquire Permiso Security, a cloud-native identity security company. The deal expands Okta’s offerings from identity management into identity threat detection and response (ITDR).

Permiso’s platform provides runtime detection and response for human users, service accounts, applications and automated agents across multi-cloud environments. The technology is designed to surface operational blind spots and identify suspicious post-authentication behavior.

Okta plans to fold Permiso into its identity security fabric and to combine identity threat detection with identity posture management into a single security offering built around Permiso’s capabilities. Permiso’s threat research arm, P0 Labs, will be integrated into Okta’s research organization to add post-authentication insight across cloud and AI environments.

The company said the acquisition is expected to increase Okta’s presence in Security Operations Centers and to deepen engagement with enterprise security teams and CISOs. Okta said the combined capabilities will support threat detection, threat hunting and post-authentication monitoring across complex cloud estates that include AI-driven services and automated agents.

The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of Okta’s fiscal 2027, subject to customary closing conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed. Okta stated the deal is not expected to affect the financial guidance it issued on May 27, 2026.
