Spur raises $200M from Insight Partners to scale IP intelligence

Spur Intelligence, a US-based IP intelligence and bot detection firm founded in 2017, announced it has received a $200 million investment from Insight Partners to scale its platform that detects anonymized and proxied web traffic used in fraud or to evade compliance. The company operated bootstrapped for nine years before taking outside capital.

Spur provides real-time intelligence that gives organizations visibility into anonymized, proxied and obfuscated traffic. Its systems analyze network behavior on anonymized infrastructure to infer the likely origin of internet traffic when common signals such as IP reputation are hidden.

The company delivers IP intelligence through data feeds, APIs, session enrichment and integrations with analytics, authentication, compliance, fraud scoring and threat detection systems. These outputs can feed into existing security and fraud workflows so teams can enrich sessions and adjust risk decisions in near real time.

Security teams face growing use of VPNs, residential proxies, mobile gateways and bot networks by threat actors seeking to bypass controls. Spur’s detection emphasizes behavior-based analysis of traffic patterns on anonymized networks rather than relying only on lists of known proxy IPs.

The firm stated the $200 million will support scaling technical infrastructure, expanding integrations and broader commercial growth. Insight Partners led the investment.

Thomas Krane, managing director at Insight Partners, noted that many organizations can see activity but not the infrastructure behind it. He described Spur’s offering as “one of the most comprehensive and actionable intelligence layers for understanding the true origin of internet traffic,” and said it helps security and fraud teams make faster, more confident decisions.

Spur is headquartered in the United States and positions its tools for fraud prevention, authentication and compliance teams seeking additional context on network-level anonymity.
