Frenos Raises $1.52M Seed Extension, Launches SAIRA Co-Work
AI-native OT security startup Frenos raised $1.52 million in a seed extension, bringing total funding to $6.4 million and launching SAIRA Co-Work to support AI R&D and customer success.
Frenos raised $1.52 million in a seed extension, bringing total financing to $6.4 million, and launched SAIRA Co-Work, the company announced. The extension was led by Momenta and Exposition Ventures, with participation from Riptide Ventures.
The US-based startup, founded in 2023, said it will use the new funds to expand its customer success team and accelerate AI research and development.
Frenos builds an autonomous operational technology security assessment platform that creates a digital twin of a customer’s industrial network. Using its SAIRA technology, the platform runs fully simulated penetration tests to validate attack paths, chain exploits and prioritize risks that could lead to operational disruption.
According to Frenos, the simulated tests reduce assessment time to minutes, require no downtime or additional hardware or traditional scanning tools, and avoid risk to production systems because testing happens on the digital twin rather than live equipment.
Robert M. Lee, co-founder and CEO of Dragos and a member of Frenos’s advisory board, observed that “Most OT security testing today tells you what’s vulnerable, not what’s defensible. The question that matters is what path takes an attacker from an exposed HMI to a process they can actually disrupt, and almost nobody is testing for that. Frenos is one of the only teams I’ve seen build a platform that thinks in those terms without putting production at risk to do it. That’s a rare combination, and it’s why I joined the advisory board.”
Frenos positions the platform for continuous validation of industrial control systems and for use during incident investigations. The company did not disclose customer names or specific timelines for broader deployments.
