Nutex Health reports network breach, files exfiltrated
Nutex Health disclosed unauthorized network access and exfiltration of server files that may include patient, employee, provider, business, financial and intellectual property data.
Houston-based Nutex Health Inc. (NASDAQ: NUTX) disclosed unauthorized access to its network and the exfiltration of files from some servers in a Current Report on Form 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The filing says Nutex operates micro-hospitals, specialty hospitals and outpatient departments. The company is assessing which systems were affected and what information was removed.
Investigators are reviewing the stolen files to determine whether they contain patient records, employee or provider information, business or financial records, or intellectual property. The filing warns that the attacker may publicly release material taken from the network.
The Form 8-K includes the company’s statement: “As of the date of this Current Report on Form 8-K, the Company does not believe that the unauthorized access has had, or is reasonably likely to have, a material impact on the Company’s business strategy, operations, financial condition or results of operations.”
No cybercriminal group has taken responsibility, and the filing does not provide a timeline for when the intrusion began or how long the attacker had access. Nutex is continuing its investigation and taking steps to secure its systems.
By filing the 8-K, Nutex has notified shareholders and regulators while it evaluates the scope and impact of the incident.
